I am for gun control, but anyone of any predisposition on the issue of gun rights should disagree with this. If a 1,000 people file into a gymnasium to hear the president speak, they should all be able to all bring in guns with them due to the 2nd amendment? Seriously? lol
Talk about an "accident" in the waiting. Surely 99% of gun rights activists have more sense than this guy. I think they do. This was just laughable today - and Chris Matthews actually did a good job taking it to him.
Did you watch the video? They are speaking hypothetically. This guy says that everyone should be able to bring guns into the room in which they are listening to the president speak.
Hypothetically, yes. Practically, no. Too many wackos. The safety of the POTUS comes first.
Hypothetically, however, would you leave your First Amendment right at the door to see the President? How about your 4th? What rights are you willing to leave at the door - hypothetically speaking?

Great post!
However I must agree that in realistic terms when close to the president his safety comes first.
Although it may be my right and I do believe in the 2nd amend. I would leave my gun at home. The consequenses could be devestating.
Imagine if say 50 people brought a gun and 1 did take a shot. Does anyone actually believe that all 50 people would not be charged with attempted murder?
besides why bring a gun to such an event? Its just plain stupid.

I'm a gun nut wacko by left wing standards, but the more I think about this the more I agree with tinman01. I have no problem carrying my concealed weapon where it's legal - and here in Texas it is NOT legal to do so at a political rally even if you hold your CHL (concealed permit), but were open carry allowed I would not do so at such a rally with the president or even near one. Even though I get the point these guys are making, the consequences of "turning the heat up" like this, along with what happens if someone actually does fire a shot is just not worth it. There are better ways to get the point across that the 2nd amendment needs to be respected just as much as the 1st amendment does.
