That is not correct. Everyone pays into social security but there is an income cap.

In 2009 you will max out SS contributions at $6621.60 when your YTD income hits $106,800. (Self employed people pay more because they don't have a matching employer contribution. They are their own employers.)

I came up with that figure as an estimate of what it would take to fund coverage for the uninsured. Even at 50% taxes we would still be unable to make health care reform break even. We will increase the US debt. I will stop working and paying taxes if the government insists on taxing me more to pay for health care reform.

The uninsured are uninsured, because health care is UNAFFORDABLE for them.

Have you ever tried to purchase a health care policy outside of your work?

Depending on your age, health, etc. a full-coverage healthcare policy can cost an out-of-work or self-employed person anywhere from $300 - 600 a month ... or more.

Imagine being unemployed, and having to shell out the majority of your unemployment check for healthcare?

Obama wants FIX THE PROBLEMS in our present healthcare system to create AFFORDABLE policies, so everyone can be insured.

Right now, those with healthcare insurance are paying extra into their own policies to cover those that don't have coverage.

Obama is trying to make that go away, so that everyone in the entire country can afford at least minimal coverage, through a public insurance option.

Wrong. Obama expects hard working people to pay for coverage for people who don't work via increased taxes. I will quit working before I will contribute to his foolhardy plan.

Not only that but he has yet to explain how much it will cost or how it will be paid for....

Commom sense. No link to that. What other source could the government use to fund a public option?

FALSE. ALL wages up to $106,800 a year are taxed at the exact same rate - 7.65%. Over that amount and you are only taxed at 1.45%, which is the Medicare portion of the 7.65% tax.

If you make over $100,000 you are not exempt.
