It's funny, in yet another thread you guys valiantly defend the prior Right Wing Majority Leader's participation in this program and new Prius purchase. Talk about a bunch of hypocritical boulder dash.
Who is you guys? I speak for myself and dont tow a party line. I call out republicans just like I do democrats.
I am doing my part recently bought an AMERICAN made car and actually paying for it myself. I"m not asking you to pay for it for me. So dont tell me I'm not doing my part.
Wanna talk about stingy kid. I give more to charity then our Vp so lets talk about it
Rightt...Again, you're acting as if the people participating in clunkers don't pay taxes. This program enabled them to put their money right back into the economy and keep Americans working.

I do and give a lot difference is I do it because its the right thing to do not to sit around and brag about I'm helping someone to get some type of credit.
I highly doubt that. Anyway, the car industry is a staple of our economy; an economy which has only been worse during the Great Depression. I don't have a problem with tax money going to give it a goose and keep AMERICANS working and putting food on the table. It will help us all in the long run. I'm sure your idea of "Let them fail" would have yielded wonderful results, right? Bush did the same thing during the end of his term, just like several other countries (who are seeing light at the end of the tunnel I might add) because it was necessary to do so. So please, spare us on the speech, I'm sure you sent your Bush stimulus check back right?
We own over 60% of GM. If you think about it we're just paying ourselves back. In the long run the government is running on "funny money" but it's keeping Americans in jobs and those Americans get real money in paychecks.
I say let the game go on ....
for one thing, china said that we can't play the game anymore.
secondly, this is not real stimulation since it is BORROWED MONEY! it is not even directed only to american cars!
it is really only stimulating the banks, just like every other bailout. americans are getting themselves into debt on an average of 400 per month per car, which may be temporarily stimulating for a few auto dealers but it pulls that much money out of regular spending in the economy. NOT ONLY THAT BUT IT ISN'T EVEN ALL AMERICAN GOODS! the government is choosing the winners and losers in society and that is only great if you fall into the very small "winner" category, but it sucks for everyone else. the government will realize soon enough that it is not big enough to stimulate the entire economy indefinitely.
as a side note, here is GM's plan for the cash for clunkers money:
Increased sales have led General Motors Co. to announce today that it will build 60,000 more cars and trucks this year than it previously planned — a move that will bring about 1,350 UAW members and Canadian Auto Workers back to work.
To meet the demand, GM said it is adding a shift at the Lordstown, Ohio, assembly plant where the Chevrolet Cobalt compact car is built. GM is also adding a shift at its CAMI facility in Ontario, Canada, where the Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain crossover are assembled. In addition, GM said it expects to increase production at plants building the Chevrolet Camaro (built in Canada), Cadillac SRX (built in Mexico) and CTS Wagon (built at Lansing Grand River) and Buick LaCrosse (built in Fairfax, Kansas).
"From Vermont to California, exhausted but appreciative car dealers watched their lots grow empty as crowds rushed to trade in gas guzzlers during the final weekend of the popular Cash for Clunkers program.
"Standing outside one of his Hyundai dealerships in Appleton, Wis., John Bergstrom said customers traded in 100 clunkers throughout his fleet of 20 dealerships on Saturday and 100 the day before. They were his two biggest sales days during the clunkers program.
"That's about as good as it gets," Bergstrom said. "It's going out with a bang."
In all, Bergstrom said his dealerships -- whose brands include Ford, GM and Toyota -- sold 800 cars during the program, boosting sales 30 percent. He had to bring in extra staff to deal with the paperwork, but the sales were worth the hassle, Bergstrom said."
Sounds stimulating
Try as they may, Fox couldn't even twist this story.
So now we've shown by putting money into the hands of people they will spend. So is it ok now that we should have had a stimulus which mostly tax breaks? Or will the usual dem/liberal hypocrisy continue?
Only a small percentage of dealerships have received money.
The rest will follow...I'll say it again, money coming is better than no money at all.

We tried your tax break trick with Bushie and you see where that got us. How soon we forget. A tax break might add to a tiny bit more savings but no stimulus..Come on, you can think of something else, it wont hurt. I promise.
