Really? Well, SOMEONE threatened congress.

The WH has just debunked that report and said the Chinese flag will NOT fly at the White House.

With this new information, the location where the flag will be flown is acceptable to me.

Quote:
But it won't happen on the White House grounds -- rather, on the Ellipse, on the other side of E Street from the presidential residence.
Looks like the Chinese lost something in translation:

Quote:
...foreign flags are only flown on the White House grounds or on Pennsylvania Avenue to mark "state" or "official" visits of the countries' leaders.
Quote:
Under those guidelines, the Chinese flag has flown on White House grounds before, in April of 2006, when President Hu Jintao visited then President George W. Bush.

In fact the current controversy is reminiscent of that visit. The Chinese insisted it was a state visit, despite U.S. assurances it was only an official one.

1. The Chinese flag is not flying over the White House. The OPer misrepresented the information in the article and the article had it wrong.
2. The Chinese flag was flown at the White House during the Bush administration.
