Russia successfully got obama to back off without giving ANYTHING away.

The Russians know a weak, pacifist liberal when they see one.

I think this is an example of how we're being forced to scale back our military industrial complex due to the bill coming due. Look out next for base closings and reduced budgets. My good friend at BAE was let go because of the F-22 funding drying up, although the guy has it made since he's a lifetime bachelor with a minimalist lifestyle, over a hundred thousand in the bank and severance then unemployment coming for the next 12 months.

Prior to the election, I had stated that he seemed to be "Jimmy Carter II". Foreign policy is my major area of interest, and I figured he would both give up the shield idea and slow down the admittance of Ukraine and Georgia into NATO.

So far, seems to be working out that way.

Yes we really needed to borrow hundreds of billions to guard the Czech Republic from Belarus.
NATO was supposedly a Defensive Alliance to protect Western Europe from the Communist Boogy Man
it is obsolete and a waste of money

Obama is in the process of destroying long time relationships with sound allies, preferring to remake our policies so they'll be "acceptable" to the likes of Russia, Iran and Venezuela. These actions and his blind admiration of the U.N. are truly worrisome.

The leaders of those countries are much tougher with more "street smarts" than Obama and are playing him like a fine tuned violin, but he's too naive and too much of an egotist to realize that. He is, however, a bully and a bully always backs down from a bigger bully.

I believe that he truly sees himself as some sort of "global" president and is willing to do what is necessary to change the landscape of America to make it more acceptable to his marxist, communist and socialist heroes. His enormous ego will cause him to gravitate toward those that seem to admire him the most without realizing that he is no more than a pawn. He is totally unable to see himself as anything but the center of importance.

Hugely dangerous traits that threaten this country and our military.

Appeasement never works. Never.

I'm not disappointed in Obama. He's doing exactly what I expected him to do - on all fronts.

I'm a Republican and I don't think scrapping this plan is that terrible. I am interested in seeing how the Russians will respond going forward as well as Obama's plan for Iran since he himself has said Iran's nuclear ambitions are a threat to security.

So, you'd favor saber-rattling bluster? THAT's really worked well in the past.

Naive.

Thanks for the reminder, Sanrene.

No, I favor a strong defense system that is in place so that it doesn't have to be used.

You missed the Jefferson quote from earlier concerning alliances to none. Home defense is fine but installing missile defense systems in other sovereign countries is a big no-no.
