The posted data is an index - a composite. It is not one stock. It is an aggregate. It includes Kaiser, United Health, Blue Cross, and many others. The data is correct. It is you who needs to learn a little about the market.

health care plans is not the health insurance industry. think outside of your comfort zone, and you might find facts.

At least point at the right industry:
Accident & Health Insurance Overview: Industry Center - Yahoo! Finance
(and i will stick with yahoo finance, since that is what the op manipulated)

Many companies take any write-offs Q3 to set up for a great Q4 since CEO bonus's are at end of year totals.

Holy crap! My prescription glasses were almost $85.00 and my wife's "fancy ones" were like $95.00. You can get 2fer specials in some places for a hundred.

Guess you have researched the underlying index before posting, eh?

Don't jubilate yet! My prescription glasses (at Dr Bizers) cost me $183. In less than two years the lenses became cloudy. Looking through them everything appears as if in a thick fog. $183 for nothing.

How outrageous! Profits of a little more than 3%!

This cannot stand!

I guess obama can't really demonize those Americans who are happy with their HC - about 85%.

He's got to find someone to demonize and target as the "enemy".

Never thought I'd see a US President so bent on targeting and demonizing those entities that are an integral part of US growth.
Could it be that now the insurance industry has put on a kind and sympathetic mask? Oh, poor us, we barely profit enough to stay in business!

I just bought a pair of eye glasses and two boxes of contact lenses and it cost exactly $800 less than your asserted cost.

I have to ask, where in hell do you shop? And why do you shop there?

It appears that you are bent on using the same fuzzy math that the President is using.

Something is askew.

my comfort zone? what the heck is that/ we are talking about those terrible insurance companies that are robbing americans by making greed profits.

but if you want to use your information, I will play along. (even though your off because your information doesnt deal with the actual HEALTHCARE INSURANCE COMPANIES

Net profits for the Accident and Health Insurance companies: a whopping 3.9%

yea. they are just ripping people off left and right.

SNORT.

Walmart only charged us $230 for exam and glasses with a free replacement if damaged.

Some people in this country feel they deserve designer jeans, shoes and cars at the expense of those who bust their butts for it. Nancy Pelosi wants to level the playing field and spread the wealth to people who don't work for it and will not work for it. We can't possibly provide a living wage to those who demand it because it will never be enough and we will always be faced with a "cost of living" raise to contend with.
