I guess no one has noticed that the woman in this case wants all charges to be dismissed?

Why would that matter. He plead guilty - no trial, no testimony is necessary from her. That part of the case is over. Being a fugitive from the law is the real issue.

If they bring him back, there will be no trial.

The question is - why does she want this case dismissed?

If it were because she was lying so many years ago, and she wasn't drugged or that Polanski never raped her then you would have a point.

However, the reason she has stated as to why she wants this dropped is because she cannot bear to continually relive the rape in the press as it is traumatic as well as embarrasing to her and her family.

And why is it traumatic for her? Do you think it is all this bs from the press about poor Polanski having sex with a minor as opposed to Polanski raping a minor? Words are telling, and the fact that all I am hearing on TV about this matter is the so-called 'underaged sex' that Polanski engaged in. The fact is, he drugged her and raped her. But what the f? I mean, Polanski is avant garde - he is an artiste! And this girl was not virgin thus she got what she deserved, right?

She wants it to go away. She sued and received a settlement years ago. She is married now with children and the publicity is not wanted.

Well considering I'm not advocating rape or anything w/that post, I was simply making an observation, there's no reason for sarcasm. I don't know why she wants the charges dismissed, I don't know her.

Water under the bridge. No need to bring back the emotional turmoil of something that happened over 30 years ago that might have required therapy to finally get over. Now they're going to drag her back through that mudpit?

So, does her desire for it to go away trump society's desire for justice to be served?
