I see the right-wingers are already coming around to saying they wanted it all along. Faster than expected.

AFP: Chicago counts on Obama oratory to seal 2016 Games

Quote:

Maybe the world is waking up as well that his oratory is empty.

Quote:
At the end of her speech in which she spoke about the ability of the Games to transform the First Lady looked out at the IOC rank and file and said: "I have brought somebody who knows something about change, the President, Barack Obama."
Yep. Change.

Obama's dirty politics and strong arm tactics didn't work this time.

Obama ALREADY has more than his share of "feathers" in his cap. I guess with Rio being choose, the IOC just plucked one out of the Mack Daddys already over inflated cap.

Wonder who they are going to deal with possible costume malfunctions.
Do you think Rio is capable of a better opening ceremony than Atlanta? If you want a good laugh, find a video of the Atlanta opening. The pickup trucks with spotlights are laughable.

Or maybe it was the closing??

Great news. It shows that Obama and Chicago politicians are an honest bunch - or at least not as corrupt as the Spanish & Brazilian contenders. The 2002 Salt Lake City games were won through bribery.

If Obama hadn't flown over many would be blaming his lack of involvement on Chicago's loss. Heads we win, tails you lose.

I'm happy that Rio, has the Games.

Am I the only one, tired of seeing European Asian and Anglo-American cities, have the Olympics? If this is suppose to be such a truely "global" games, well, let someone else have it!

However, I was kinda pulling for Chicago.
