More to the point......why make the title of this thread, "Hating gays is more important than helping the needy" when my point is that the Catholic Church has not institutionalized any hatred of gays into their tenets or policies. If you are looking for a church with a real hatred of gays, the Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka KS is the place to go.
Are you actually comparing WBC and the Roman Catholic Church? Westboro has what? .......23 members, all related to Fred? And you compared it to the largest Christian church in the world? In the long run, while Fred and Westboro are more overtly hateful, the RCC does gays more harm.

No, not "comparing", contrasting.

How does the RCC "do harm" to gays?

And I still haven't had an answer as to why this thread has the title "Hating gays is more important than helping the needy". The two articles that have been linked both quote the RCC as saying they will continue with the charitable work they are now doing.

Talk about gay propaganda. The gays have abandoned all values and then they demand others do the same. It is the gays who are motivated by self interest and could care less who they hurt. It's not like they can have children so their welfare will never be a second thought.

They will never stop until they bring everyone down to their level. They have no respect for anyone or anything. Only innocent children will be hurt by their demands and they will not care one bit.

this has never been about picking a church to belong to. although I do know several gay friends who are catholic, it is their choice to do so, strange as the decision seems to me. I think that perhaps only a handful of coupled gays or lesbians would even want to work for a catholic organization who so openly looks down on them. the church would much rather deny its services to poor folk than give benefits to a handful of gay ppl who would want to work for them or god forbid let a gay couple adopt a hard to place child. If the church wants to provide services with its own funds, more power to them. but when they accept public funds to carry that out, that is quite another thing.

The point is that the church teaches that homosexual behvour is immoral and adherents of that relegion have a right to their beliefs and should not be compelled by the government to support homosexuality.

There is nothing hateful or phobic about believing that marriage is an institution entered into by one man and one woman.

If the church has to disengage from a community activity to avoid coercion by the government to accept/support something against their core beliefs then it is the right thing to do.

then maybe local govts should not be in the habit of using these institutions to serve the general public and go secular.

think about it:

A handful of selfish self-centered gays who would much rather see services to the poor and assistance for parentless children destroyed than allow a church to adhear to their values, beliefs and the teachings of the Bible. In their desire to push themselves onto everyone and into everything I believe all they will accomplish is more disgust from people.
