It's been reported that Holder's law firm is defending the detainees. I can't for the life of me see how this isn't a conflict of interest. Putting the intelligence considerations aside for the moment, a long drawn out trial means $$$ (our money) goes to all the security and manpower that will be required to carry this out in NYC.

I also question the statment that "he will be convicted and executed" from an experienced and supposedly intelligent legal mind. What is he trying to do with that statement? Taint the jury pool of the entire country?

Some talking head said, "if the turban doesn't fit, you must acquit". That sounds almost prophetic.

Holder said he is "very confident". Well, all prosecutors have to appear very confident. What else can he say? Marcia Clark was "confident" too.

I was pretty impressed with Sen Graham...really backed Holder into a corner.

And this is just the beginning.

If the OJ had the "Trial of the Century", what will this one be?

This move is juist to put Bush and Cheny on trial. He will walk and Holder will say its Bushes fault

One question I would ask is that with regard to this, it seems the Right wants to go the route of "He's NOT a civilian, he's an enemy combatant!!!!" and then when it comes down to rights under the Geneva Convention "They are NOT enemy combatants!!!"

So what gives? I mean I know that the ingenious maneuver of waterboarding KSM some 180 times or so is going to make prosecuting him in our courts a royal pain in the arse, but....
Please, the whole purpose of this trial is political. Can you imagine if the defense calls, for example, Dick Cheney to the stand? Or asks the CIA to spill secrets. And for the pleasure to host this dog and pony show, NYC is looking for $75 million dollars for security. And how in God's name is it supposed to show everyone how wonderfully righteous and moral we are if 1) the District Attorney is already promising a guilty verdict and 2) says even if they're acquitted, he won't let them go. Team Obama is as dumb as dirt and twice as hypocritical.

Could you imagine the reaction? Obama is so worried about what Europe thinks of American justice. Well, what will they think in "Islamville" if they are found "not guilty" and yet they are not freed? What would that say about American justice? And I can't wait for jury selection to see them guaranteed a jury of their peers. It just takes one "not guilty." Dorks.

Holder is a lightweight and only got the job because the Clinton's wanted one of their own as AG. I think he's going to end up hurting Obama. Well, he already is so that point is made.

I can't disagree with any of this. Like I said, it's a TERRIBLE idea... Again, one of the main points being talked about is how, in a civilian court, can we take anything KSM said under interrogation to mean anything when he was essentially coerced into saying it?

This isn't to say whether the coercion was right or wrong or whether he was being truthful or lying. Fact is that it can and probably will ALL be thrown out due to this fact....

Again, BAD idea.....

What does a "peer" of this terrorist look like? I'd hate to be considered one of his peers.

Does a foreign terrorist on American soil even have peers in this country? Maybe we'll have a jury of muslims.

The whole idea smells of ulterior motives and does NOT have the country's interests at heart.

Didn't Obama say in regards to Hasan that he's "not interested in political theater?"

I'm so mad about Holders explanation! he was stating that the jury will know what to do and he trust them to do the right thing just as the prosecutors....

Let others do the dirty work meanwhile giving secret reports to the terrorist who can than discuss it with their visitors...wow Obama and ass. have really a plan to destroy this country!

What disrespectful to the victims and their family members and friends!...Unbelievable!!!
