Rather than indulging in pipe dreams about Southern secession, wouldn't it be more productive to put one's efforts into building the best states and federal union possible?
100 years of domination by northern business interests. Pretty much what we have to put up with now. So, what's the difference? We can continue to be ruled by what amounts to a foreign culture or actually make laws that reflect our values instead of our overly liberal political class.
Im not saying yes , but Im also not saying no...It would be very, very difficult though.
I do understand because even though we are 1 country, we really aren't. Each part of the country has different values and all have varied economies. We aren't really 'UNITED' as our nation states. For example, I will say Farmer John in Alabama is fighting for his farming rights, I live in the Northeast and honestly know nothing about his welfare or what he is fighting for. Why not bunch together states with similar ways of life and beliefs? Its easy to say, but in reality it would be extremely difficult. We wouldn't be a world power anymore that's for sure. It would probably just cause more problems.
Being a "world power" has been nothing but expensive and leads to a lot of southerners and westerners being killed for nothing (the makeup of today's military shows the south and west (not west coast) are currently overrepresented in numbers). I no longer see the point of such endeavours.

Pipe dream yes. However, no country bereft of a common language, common culture, or even recognizable borders will last forever. While I won't see this nation disintegrate in what's left of my lifetime I'd be surprised if my grandchildren didn't see it.
There is no racism going on in the south that is not going on up north. Even these so called diverse areas are still pretty separated(notice I said separated not segregated, they are separating by b/c of any laws). Most ethnic groups [still] live w/ their own ethnic group. Other areas may not have a KKK presence, but those areas have other nationalists groups who think the same way. I've said it already, but IMO Mississippi would be the place that I'd avoid the most in the south, Also avoid Vidor(TX) and Jasper(TX).
I was stationed in phily for awhile in my youth. Some friends and I took an apartment. We didn't realize it but we were in the italian section of the town. Just across the street was the porta rican section of town. There were others but the the locals all knew the boundaries and only rarely crossed them.
You guys got your asses kicked the last time you stuck your chests out. Sounds like another generation needs its teeth kicked in. God's grace sure as hell didn't help you last time...did it?
Got some more news for ya...won't help you next time either.
