No quotes are taken out of context. Where do you think Pat Robertson got his ideas of revenge and punishment. From the "solar powered bible!"
I didn't realize you are a follower of Robertson. That means you agree with him on this? Follow man and you will frequently be misled. Just as anyone who listens to you would be misled.
If someone who is suffering, injured, hungry, lost loved ones and all possessions, happens to open his "solar powered bible" up to the 26th chapt. of Leviticus, he might find this:
Leviticus 26:16-17
16 then I will do this to you: I will bring upon you sudden terror,
wasting diseases and fever that will destroy your sight and drain away your
life. You will plant seed in vain, because your enemies will eat it.
17 I will set my face against you so that you will be defeated by your
enemies; those who hate you will rule over you, and you will flee even when
no one is pursuing you.
I believe they, AS CHRISTIANS (proselytizing is not happening, much as it's been alluded), would avoid moral tales of justice to study in depth just now. Likely they'd choose this...
THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD
The Lord is my shepherd,
I shall not want;
He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters;
He restores my soul.
He leads me in paths of righteousness
for His name's sake.
Even though I walk through the valley
of the shadow of death,
I fear no evil;
for You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
all the days of my life;
and I shall dwell in the house of the
Lord forever.
Psalm 23
Haitians do not have electricity. Many of them have not had the luxury of education to be able to read a bible in print for themselves. This gift is thoughtful and appropriate for christians, and for anyone else seeking guidance willing to consider words. I'd hate to see this thread devolve into a dueling banjo of scripture. Care to provide the Haitian population of buddhists with the equivalent guidance?

But I am quoting the Christian authority, which will be given in mass to the ailing Haitians. Perhaps they will open their Holy book of authority and will find this:
Leviticus 26
32 I will lay waste the land, so that your enemies who live there will be
appalled.
33 I will scatter you among the nations and will draw out my sword and
pursue you. Your land will be laid waste, and your cities will lie in
ruins.
Who will interpret these verses of comfort for them?

you would be wise to heed these words, directed at the wicked and disobedient.

Do you believe the wicked and disobedient get punished by God? Maybe by a natural disaster? This is what is written in the bible many times. In fact, it is the bible that Pat Roberson got his crazy, insensitive remarks.
Should these victims read how God rewards the righteous and punishes the wicked, what will these people be left to think? Haven't they been through enough?
Who cares? If Haiti was 70% Jewish would you have the same complaint if Torahs were being sent? If Haiti was 70% Muslim, would you have the same complaint if Korans and prayer mats were being sent?
It's not up to you or anyone else to decide what anyone should donate in the form of relief and I HIGHLY doubt that bibles are "clogging up" or backing up or taking up space in LIEU of anything that is life-saving, literally, like food or water on relief/aid flights to Haiti.

Yes, I would have a problem with that. Like I said at least 3 times they need food/water/medicine not bibles/torahs/korans.
