I think its failure might be due to the inequalities built into it whereby only a handful on nations can overpower the input of all the others. This begs the question: Should France get a larger voice than Nauru? Which reminds me of our "Should Wyoming voters be worth more than Californians in the Electoral College?".

What's the solution? Is there one at all?
I don 't know what the solution is but, I DO now it is NOT the UN.

Because every industrialized country in the UN (except for America), regulates large corporations, places high tax rates on CEO's, and is combating global warming.

The CEO's and large corporations that control the US republican party distance themselves from the UN and the rest of the world in every way. Examples, Republican leaders call Europeans Socialists and Communists, they say their healthcare systems kill people, they falsely say Europeans are in worse financial shape than America, ex.ex.

And every country and government in the UN is combating global warming, while US republicans say "man made global warming is a hoax." They say this to protect corporate profits.

Republican CEO leaders are scared if America gets close to the UN (and starts to share the ideals of the rest of the world), then CEO tax rates will be raised, large corporations will be regulated, we will do something about global warming, we will raise min wage laws, stop hating unions, and give everyone health insurance (just like all the countries in the UN do.)

Basically republican CEO leaders are scared that close ties with the UN could stop many Americans from wanting things like this.

Romney's Economic Plan Includes $6.6 Trillion Tax Cut For The Rich And Corporations | ThinkProgress

America is the only country on Earth that has people stupid enough to do things like the above (and add that $6.6 trillion dollars to our national debt.)

The following Australian documentary explains/shows how republican CEO leaders manipulate US republicans as if they were retarded sheep.

Republicans attack, bash, insult, and try to destroy any group that opposes supply side tax cuts and corporate deregulation. And the countries in the UN oppose republican actions so republican leaders attack them.

Its just like all the TV commercials that are presently coming on during (state level) US political campaigns that bash Obamacare. All of those TV commercials are paid for by the large corporations that republicans give tax cuts too. Democrats raise taxes on CEO's and corporations, so the corporations pay for political TV commercials attacking democrats (and try to make democrats look bad.)

The CEO corporate mechanism that controls the US republican party attacks any group that opposes their desires, and the UN gets attacked by that mechanism.

You quote thinkprogress and greenpeace as source of fact about who SOMEONE OTHER THAN THEM ARE and what they do.

This is like asking the drunk down the road how good the engineer on the other side of town is.

And you wonder why liberals get laughed at for immense stupidity.

^^^ Is mindless pap.

What's more important, is that the author of that mindless pap says those things (and perhaps even thinks them) because he was told those things. Not because he knows, not because he has any evidence, not because he is witness, but simply because he was told, and refuses to learn anything for himself.

I think the UN was founded with the best of intentions after the horrific nature of the events of WW2 however I think from the start it was always going to have major issues getting things done since there was already huge structural inequalities built in and a huge unequal balance of power from the start..........not to mention getting so many nations of different cultures and viewpoints to agree to certain things and on certain points which is almost impossible. Also every nation America included uses the UN for there purposes doesn't make them bad it self interest but in order for the UN to ever in begin to reach its true potential you would in effect almost have to change human nature and that ain't happenin. All that said the UN has done some good things it isn't all bad they have helped raise awareness of certain things and resolve disputes and bring much needed aid to various places around the world etc......

Why do dems and libs always assign the word 'hate' when refering to anyone who opposes their position on issues?

Is it incomprehensible that a disagreement does not constitute hate for those folks?

Does referring to those who oppose their view as 'hateful' serve any purpose other than to propagandize their position for political advantage. "they are hateful, we aren't...."

As for the UN, it is blindingly naieve to suggest that because someone has a mandate to achieve a goal they are holy crusaders and should be clebrated for their intentions. Reminding of a 3 year olds birthday party where they come dressed as superheroes and are just a powerful as their imagination allows.

Unless the USA is getting good intelligence from eavesdropping on other countries while at the UN, get it the heck off our shores. Bunch of self righteous hypocrites who do no more than issue rhetoric, violate our laws and live well on the backs of the people they pretend to represent. How can you take an organizarion seriously when human rights violators and terrorist countries are on the UN security council?

There is a crisis in Syria and people are leaving in historic proportions. Why did the UN not foresee the problem? Why did they do nothing to relieve the cause of the problem so people did not have to flee their country? Why do they now stand with thumbs up their butt instead of going into Syria and physically resolving the issue so people could return to Syria.

The UN is a theoretical pipedream born of the assumption that the countries involved would actually participate in preventing and or resolving international issues. They are a hologram divorced from reality. More than willing to monitor our elections and interfere with our constitutional rights and laws.

Go back to your third world countries and EU Disneyworld and play pretend on someone else's dime. Learn to dance to Putin's tune, winter is coming and you need to stay warm.

We get our orders from the Constitution not from the UN.

The UN is pretty corrupt and has outlived it's original purpose. It's time to downsize it and move it to some EU country where they can be surrounded by like minds.
