Being for "peace" is propaganda. Anyone can say they are for "peace" and not be. The truth is that they are for their political interests. There is much that the U.N. could have unapologetically done, but did not, over the past 70 years to promote peace if they were for "peace".

The cult of "Human Rights" is an excuse to invade nations, overthrow legitimate rulers, and to essentially instill a neo-communist world ethic. Any ethic that focuses on "the people" is socially communist / Marxist by nature. The result is to put people, no matter how dysfunctional or evil they are, ahead of what is objectively good and just for the nation and the world. It's a means of discounting morality in favor of tolerance of any manner of evil behavior. Sure, it does some good in some circumstances. But that isn't its purpose. We could emphasize morality and still save people from evil.

In religious terms, it is the de-emphasis of God (objective morality) for the emphasis on man (relative morality). In essence, it is the morality of international communism writ large.

Good government is hard - far beyond the ability of most groups of people in the world. There really is no reason to expect that a body comprised of all the world's countries, most of which have horrible governments, could act wisely and responsibly.

You didn't get the memo. The real UN mandate is to protect tin pot dictators and authoritarian regimes of all types and extort funds from Western countries, as well as provide high paying jobs for globalists who really enjoy living the life of Riley while pretending to be morally superior to everyone else on the plant while having sex with third world minors and employing squadrons of hookers. The UN is the worst kind of swamp.

Why is that? I know that the U.N. is not the smoothest running machine, but I think that's understandable considering how many different cultures and languages are involved (otherwise why not advocate cleaning up the US immigration bureaucracy... a much worse mess).

The U.N. mandate is to promote human rights and peace. Surely you cannot be against them for that!

I really would like to know what it is that gets you upset... Please post and let me know.
Because, like modern Progressive organizations they are about feeling good about themselves and don't have the ability to Execute anything that works. They were eating crumpets and drinking tea in the Hague when things went south in Bosnia, Somalia, Rwanda, Libya. They have relied on the United States military to bail them out time and time again.

They may be competent in handing out food supplies but that's about it
