AS international aid agencies rush food, water and medicine to Haiti's earthquake victims, a US faith-based group is sending Bibles to Haitians in their hour of need.
Not just any Bible.
These are solar-powered audible Bibles that can broadcast the holy scriptures in Haitian Creole to 300 people at a time.
I agree they do need food, but I don't see anything wrong with giving them solar-powered Bibles.
What some either fail to understand or refuse to understand is that some people believe in god and draw comfort from their faith.
I am not one of those folks but I can understand it.
I wonder why the OP doesn't point out something else.
For example. Someone needs to tell the Haitians that the way they do things isn't working. That they need to join in mass and and get rid of their corrupt leaders.
Some are demonstrating that the haitian people have what it takes. They are securing their own neighborhoods from looters rather than waiting for or depending on someone else to do it for them. Now this gives me hope that Haiti is not a lost cause after all.

I agree. I sure wouldn't want a Bible, but if the recipients in Haiti appreciate it, it's not a waste of resources.
I'd rather have porn. That would give me more "comfort" than a Bible.
If your only tool is a hammer, all the world seems a nail to you.

People in Haiti lack food, water, and medicine, but not bibles. I don't think bibles are in sort supply anywhere because christian charities make sure of that. Anyway, those bibles might come in useful when people in Haiti die due to lack of food/water/medicine, because they were sent solar power bibles and not anything that actually could help them. They can read each other last rites and pray for some food or water.

Did you ever think for even one freakin second that the Bibles might help them to find comfort in THEIR religion? You make me sick.

You ever think for one minute that people need food and water to survive?
Lets play a game.
An earthquake just happened and you are dying of hunger and thirst, plus you have gangrene on your leg. What item(s) would you want; choose one answer:
a) a solar powered bible
b) food, medicine, and water
Seriously, what is wrong with you CQ? Its easy to say that these fundies are helping these poor Haitians from the comfort of the USA, with your electricity/heating/internet/food/water, but I have a feeling if you were in Haiti a solar powered bible would not be high on your list of priorities.
