I would laugh in your face. Such a statement would only serve to prove you have no class.

If I took physical action, I would be the criminal. Period.

I share the same sentiment in general terms. However, I also see the part where people want to display their national pride. You may say people can find other ways to do so. It is true but there is such a thing as freedom of speech and how you express that. If Supreme Court said protesters can burn the Flag as a form of speech I just do not see how in the world it would be wrong to display it on your t-shirt.
Also, how to show respect does change with the times as the culture of a society changes so what is your form of respect may differ from others. What is the intent? To disrespect it of show pride?
I am also aware that there are some federal guidelines as to how to display the Flag but that is not enforced at all in the civilian world. It is enforced on federal properties to a greater degree.
The point of the OP is not whether it is appropriate to display the Flag on t-shirts or not though. I do think what was done to the students was wrong. It was biased towards those students freedom of expression.

You have a great day.

Display it with respect. That's the point. No it should not be placed on cars. But thats your right. Just because you have a right to do something does not mean its the RIGHT thing to do. Do you understand that?

No, you would be "normal" actually. And the courts have upheld the right to assault someone who used "fighting words" against you.

Title 4, § 8(d), United States Code (titled, "Respect for flag")-- "The flag should never be used as wearing apparel...."

Subsection (j)-- "No part of the flag should ever be used as a costume or athletic uniform."

I know it says "should," so strictly speaking, it's not an arrestable offense. But still, wearing the flag as clothing shows a lack of respect for it. If you don't like the law, ask your Congressman to have it repealed.

Flag Code

These are "guidelines" and not binding laws. We went through all this years ago in 1967 with flags on our jeans, remember?

Yeah good luck with that argument in court. This isn't 1850 anymore, I'm afraid your knowledge of the law is seriously out of date.

I think you had better stop dispensing legal advice without a license online, because you are seriously wrong about a great many things...
