If I can identify the perpetrator, I have my own means of "sanction". I don't need the law.

Nope. Just a private citizen with the guts to do whatever is necessary to stand up for what I believe in.

There's nothing "terrorist" about it.

But, you should make up your mind--either we have laws, or we're a free country. But you can't have both. I'm willing to violate any law to stand up for what I believe in--are you?

Terrorist or a criminal, hard to tell which. I can imagine Osama Bin Laden making the same sort of excuses for violating the law to stand up for what he believes in.

Your right to act on what you believe in is limited by the rights of others. In this case, you have no right to stop someone from burning a flag just because you don't like it.

You have the right to express your displeasure within the bounds of the law. Cross those bounds, and welcome to Cell Block C.

That is a terrorist and criminal mentality you expressed, plain and simple.

You have the right to argue, to speak against, etc. Cross the line and you are the criminal subject to sanction, period.

Well now I am curious.

Just what would you do if you saw someone burning an American flag?

Choose your answer carefully, your credibility as an Internet Tough Guy may depend on it.

You only have such rights as you can personally defend. If you can't defend them, then it's not a right.

No one's ever shown any interest in prosecuting me for my actions. In fact, they wise up and leave me alone.

An appropriate response would be to dump accelerant on them and coax them closer to the fire.
