I can see how the principals actions caused great tension between those who oppose and those in favor. The principal felt fights could be avoided if this hot button issue did not become a distraction on school grounds. I believe if it were any other shirt that had some derogatory images or wording, the student would still be sent home, told to change shirts, etc. As a principal, it is his/her responsibility to ensure students are able to learn at a school safely.
Then the principal should have also had students removed wearing the mexican flag shirts, no?

First, this has nothing whatsoever to do with Obama. Get over it, he won, and he's actually doing a good job despite daily sabotage attempts from the Right. Moving on...
This is not a conspiracy, or a policy, or a trend. This is a single, ignorant, reactionary know-nothing school official who the school has already admitted was wrong. Lucky for him, because the ACLU would have eaten his lunch otherwise.
Also, that wasn't the reason they were sent home, period. The idiot official was trying to avoid trouble, but unfortunately trampled all over the constitutional rights of the students in the process.

Are you saying that the american flag should not be placed on cars either ? do you remember 9/11 and how many ppl displayed our flag after that happened ? I also honor the memory of those fallen in my family by displaying the flag on my porch and on my car . I feel that displaying my flag is the right thing to do . Im not sure I understand your point .

If people respond to such an action in a manner than violates the law, they will be prosecuted, and should be. People in this country have the right to express themselves in this manner, if they so choose, and anyone attempting to physically prevent them can and should be arrested for battery.

I don't recall saying that you said you wanted to burn a flag. I said that whatever action you take, you should be prepared for whatever repercussions occur as a result. I know I am. I'm always prepared for someone to be offended, and have to issue a beatdown.
But, you should make up your mind--either we have laws, or we're a free country. But you can't have both. I'm willing to violate any law to stand up for what I believe in--are you?
