It's not so much the dancing as the clothes. I've seen a few documentaries about what's perceived as sexualized dancing (quite rightly so, might I add) far worse than this, and understanding the background of the dancing does give you a better perspective of things.

The clothing however was a bit much in my opinion, it's hard to see how it doesn't sexualize the kids in question. I think a simple test would be to think of adults wearing the same outfits, I'm sure it would've been seen as "hot and sexy" then, that might have been a good indication that it would be, at the very least, questionable, to dress children in it.

So to sum up: Dance, no problem.
Clothing, not as big of a fan.

Stage mothers aren't going to be impressed by any of these arguments.

Just saw it for the first time. As the dad of a 4 y.o. --- OMG!

The energy and dancing was great for kids that young. The gyrations are totally inappropriate for children.

Children today (especially girls) are being sexualized waaaay too early.

Allowing those little girls to be all tarted up like "women of ill-repute" and teaching them to do grinding/thrusting/booty popping moves that are more appropriate in a strip club than a dance competition is plain and simple child abuse.

The parents need to ask themselves how many pedophiles are viewing that tape of their 8 year old daughter with a great deal of "pleasuring" and then ask themselves just acceptable was that routine.

Well, as is obvious from my post, I disagree.

Given they were, for instance dressed in baggy "streetwear" clothing, I don't think the dance moves would've been seen as too provocative at all. Especially if you dig into the history of that type of dancing.

The clothing just slutted it all up, with the obviously unfortunate result.

The parents who support their children doing stuff like this are the same brainless morons who are shocked when a pedophile abducts and rapes their little girl. That "dancing" is completely inappropriate for that age group and I can honestly say I threw up a little when I first saw it. You want to see what's wrong with America? Start right there.

I'm not surprised. Some in Hollywood still celebrate a child rapist simply because he can direct movies.
