Actually, Oregon is one of the most progressive states in terms of supporting local, organic farmers.

Yea.... suuuure... tell me more myths about "progressiveness" of Portland. May be that's why organic produce in Portland during harvest season is more expensive than in...Kaliffornia?

have you been to portland? Go to the PSU farmer's market in July and then tell me about Oregon doesn't have a vibrant small farm movement.
Better yet, go this time of year and STILL see how many people/vendors are there in the off-season.

I don't think you've ever been to CA.

For shame you business who are trying to make money and are being friendly to your customers' face. How awful! Someone should shut the state down!

I currently live there. Yup, Portland and Eugene produce is more or as expensive as in CA (and I'm talking LA and SF Bay), shame on fake "progressive local agriculture support".... one would think the stuff would grow with rain?? Had to cut on my fruit and veggies while in PNW, due to cost. Been to farmer's markets, way too expensive for PNW reputation of "eat seasonal eat local", super expensive, and in stores as well. Organic tomatoes alone cost a fortune and that in harvest season--and somebody been telling me tomatoes don't grow in OR climate??--that's not true. Cilantro was expensive as hell...strawberries, everything. You'd think apples would be cheap, with WA close... nope. Mushrooms were expensive... they're supposed to grow well in wet climate? The only "cheap" item I found was aronia berry, $2/box.
