I do a lot of shopping and research on the internet and find that many businesses just don't care.
I agree with you 100%.

Oh well, I bought several Hawaiian shirts the last time I was in Honolulu.
And I don't want a job anyway! Retirement works for me.

The only thing I ever bought at TJ was wine, they always had a decent selection. Then again, Safeway up here in Chino Valley has a pretty good selection so I probably won't be making any long treks to shop at TJ.

It was too good to be true. As part of the deal, TJ wants the city to use taxpayer money and fund over $2.2 million dollars to pay for the infrastructure setup before they build there. This is not sitting too well with the residents. Can we say Lowe's & Tim's Toyota Center revisited?

Hey Ken, can you believe that? 2.2 million? Outrageous!

Wait...I think I've heard this before.

They are saying that if the city doesn't put up the $2.2 millions, TJ's will go elsewhere and not build in Prescott.

Boo hoo! Let them go elsewhere. TJ's has enough money to pay for their own infrastructure. Extortion?

Lowe's did the same garbage and that project turned into a fiasco. Can someone say failing retaining wall and a mountainside that looks like it has been strip-mined.

I understand and agree, don't give them 2.2 million to build a store. If they want the business they can put up the capital to make it happen.

I just found it amusing that you posted it as "new" news when Ken already posted it. But hey, it's still news, I guess. They should ask the people if they want to foot the bill for the store to come to Prescott. I think most would say no, if it means giving away 2 million to a corporation. TJs makes gobs of money, they can invest in the town on their own dime, IMO.

I don't really see what the big deal is. In essence, the city is fronting a $2.2M interest-only loan at 6%. In return for the loan, the city gets 6% interest ($132K per year) plus an additional $350K per year in tax revenue. That sounds like a good deal to me. Don't worry folks, if Prescott doesn't invest, PV probably will. Prescott's sales tax base will just continue to be overtaken by PV.
