Hello Prescottians.

Are there any hikes you can recommend in the area with a creek or waterfall? Maybe a nice view? Nothing to strenuous, I'll be taking a friend and wanting to get some photos. Thanks!

I would suggest Thumb Butte, but don't know about waterfalls or creeks. AZ Highways has a good hiking book or try hikeaz.com

Groom Creek is lovely, it's a loop, you don't have to go all the way up and around. Trail to the right is less steep, so I've gone up that way and down the other, which would be steep going up, but you also can go up the right side as far as you want and then turn around.

I think you can hike around Lynx Lake as well. I've always meant to do that one, never have.

Thanks, Motormaker. That looks like a great hike. Not quite what I'm looking for this time, but definitely something to come back to.

Groom Creek sounds great. Hadn't heard of that one, I'll definitely check it out. Lynx Lake was suggested by an acquaintance as well, as was Goldwater Lake.

Appreciate the tips, Observer.

Try the Peavine. It's an old railroad bed that has been converted into a trail. It meanders through the Granite Dells and next to Watsen Lake. It starts behind the Yavapai Humane Society. Take 89 to Prescott Lakes Pkwy. Turn south towards Hwy 69. Make your first left on Sundog Ranch Rd. The parking lot is on the left.
