I got Jimmy Smith (1992-2005) Dallas Cowboys (92-93), Jacksonville Jaguars (95-05.)

He almost died while a Dallas Cowboy from an infection after surgery (emergency appendectomy.) A dispute broke out between Smith and Cowboy owner Jerry Jones, who claimed that, since the condition wasn't football related, the Cowboys should not have to pay Smith for the 1993 season (IR)

5 straight Pro Bowls (1997-2001)
2x All Pro (1998-1999)

862 rec.
12,287 yds.
69 tds.

The only players in the Pro Football Hall of Fame with more career receiving yards than Smith are Jerry Rice (22,895), Art Monk (12,721) Steve Largent (13,089) and James Lofton (14,004); only Monk and Rice have more catches.

He actually retired early too (in my, and many others' opinions.) Possibly related to a major Drug Problem (rumors.)

The guy would of easily surpassed Monk and Largent and possibly even Lofton.

Yet I never ever hear his name mentioned for Canton.

Such is the curse of a star in a small market.

Insane.

Good choice. I would think he'd make it to Canton eventually. If Irvin and Monk are there, Smith should def be there IMO.

Tim Brown should already have a bust in Canton.

Gary Collins of the Browns. His yardage and TD% were great.

Carroll Dale never got on a good team until he was old.

He goes in this year, you can count on it! Last year was his first year of eligibility.

These stats don't lie: 1094 receptions for 14,934 yards and 105 yards. And keep in mind he was also a returner so that increases his all purpose yard total to 19683 yards.

He is a 9 time pro bowler and is a member of the 1990's NFL All Decade Team. With Shannon Sharpe and Jerry Rice going in this year there it's obvious there would be a logjam in this position for the 2010 inductees.

BTW Clay you look like a new name here, I don't recall you posting here before. Welcome to the football forum! And also-good thread!

Underrated? How about Rod Smith of the Denver Broncos.

2x Super Bowl Champ
3x Pro-Bowler (2000, 2001, 2005)
849 rec/11389 yds/68 tds.
Last but not least, he came into the NFL as an undrafted free agent.

I disagree because I don't think Rod Smith is underrated. For a few years he was a legitimate valued star. Hey was part of the puzzle to a team that was great for a few seasons.

My pick, as a biased Lions fan, is Herman Moore. He slowed down with injuries but he put up some great numbers at his peak.

Troy Brown from the Pats. Not being biased here, he did so much on the field, even playing some D from time to time (Charger fans will remember) along with special teams. The man did it all, never complained, and was a good guy on and off the field of play.

He played in the wrong market. If he was a Bear, Steeler, Packer or Cowboy he would be in already. Fred Taylor has great stats as well, but it will be a while before Fred Taylor or Jimmy Smith get in the HOF. They just played in the wrong market.
