Sweet Jesus this may be one of the biggest overpayments/reaches in NFL history. Two first round picks for an aging QB whose performance has fallen off the last couple seasons and who hasn't played at all since the end of last year?
That's an awful lot to mortgage. Are the Raiders trying to doom themselves over the next 5-10 years?
Ever since his knee got turned into spaghetti in that Pittsburgh game, he has never been the same. Who knows though, maybe he'll make a comeback. I just wonder what shape he is in at the moment.

Most 1st rounders are busts anyway, ie Jamarcus Russell.
Palmer is a vet and his knee is fully healed. not to mention he still has a cannon for an arm. the Bengals are like a pee-wee team compared to the Raiders anyway. He'll do great in Oakland.
Bluescreen73 is right. His numbers over the last couple seasons don't seem to justify spending two first round picks. And I'm not even sure about one.
Agreed, this is a really steep price for a guy that hasn't played at a high level consisently in a long time. I always commend teams for trying to win, but overpaying - especially in the forms of draft picks is a huge risk.
Look at the Bears, sure they got to the NFC title game last year, but their team has huge holes that could have been answered with draft picks that went to the Broncos for Cutler.
Mike Brown is arguably one of the worst front-office executives in the NFL. The Raiders will make him look like a genius if this goes through...and that's not a good thing.
