A spiritual connection with higher power/energy is what brings in all sorts of positive emotions into one's life. That dependable stream of well-being, which doesn't depend on any outside circumstances or people, is the ANSWER.
I don't believe in any gods. I don't believe in any "higher power" but I don't feel like something's "missing" from my life.

Being introverted has NOTHING to do with being a "hermit" or "anti-social!" That's just plain ignorance. We don't need to mindlessly chatter to each other to be happy.
I've noticed those problems in society for over a decade but nobody had ever wanted to discuss it.
But a research organization named Equality Trust stated that the USA has the highest level of social problems in all developed countries. It's online.

i believe it has to do with maslows hierachy of needs.. the further up the pyramid we go the more time we have to think about things, to be introspective, to be aware of what we don't have and what we want... if you are busy gathering food, or trying to stay safe, you don't have to think about your psychology,or existence or superficial things..
is it a love one you lost? death? is it the absent of god?
is it a childhood you miss?
what is that empty feeling that you can't fill even on your best days?
is it being abused? grown up life? what is it?
The answer has to be specific to your situation. There's nothing about life that makes "everyone" feel empty inside in general.
Do you have career goals and aspirations? Does traveling to different countries excite you? What hobbies do you have? Are you in a relationship? Do you want to raise a family? How about moving to another city?
All of these things and more will help fill up that feeling of emptiness you may have. Life is a do thing - is what I say.
That empty feeling is caused by materialism and toxic relationships. It will suck out all meaning of life right out of you. I stopped feeling empty when I started living my life the way I saw as correct and reassuring myself that I'm right.
I currently live with someone who on a weekly basis tries to make me feel wrong: there is almost always a "problem" that he has to point out. He succeeds in insulting me for a few minutes and then I remind myself that I'm living my life and enjoying it while he is in a dark empty pitiful hole and has absolutely nothing going on for him mentally, physically, and socially.
It's when dad is missing watch the movie "cougarous" and you will know. Those 4cops were the best.
