Honestly I still don't see a need. Geometry, yes. Environment science, of course. But I was never explained to and got the importance, if any, in me leaning pre calc or British literature, for example. I was simply told to just do it 'cause we said so' which, to me, said they didn't know either and that made me REALLY question what I was being force fed to learn. I'd question it myself. Why are you wasting my money and my child's time in classes that, in my opinion, have no relevancy in the real world when that time could easily be redirected into classes that'll actually impact their lives in a meaningful way BEYOND high school?
I need to see a usefulness in what I'm learning. If it's not explained in a way by the person teaching me and I can't really find a reason to use it beyond my test, I will question it and actively reject retaining the material past the test simply because its a waste of my time and mental space, so to speak. Where I'm trying to remember my chemistry, Spanish, violin lessons, and anything I learn in Swahili because I know ill use it in the future.

Never, that's why I didn't get a tattoo of my favorite band! Or any tattoo.
I always looked at life as a long haul, a never ending learning process and ever changing.
