I'll bet there are plenty of capable people here in Charlotte Co. collecting welfare or unemployment or even prisoners that could be put to use. It would let them earn the money they're collecting (in the case of unemployment or welfare) plus they would be learning a new trade.

The folks that bought our house on West Spring Lake say it appears the bridge will actually be LOWER than previously. I told them the Army Corps of Engineers won't allow it to be lower (at least that's what I was told a few years ago during the design process). Guess we'll see when they get the decking on...

This project seems to be going slowly compared to others I have watched or witnessed and a few I worked on.. It "seemed" like there was always "more action" taking place on those than I see going on here. It seemed like to me, there was more personnel involved and more equipment on the move.. It seems like , they are in no hurry to get this job done? In construction of any kind, time is money.. There is a balance, but time is money and this job for being as small as it is, really seems to be going slooooooowly. One Good Thing Is.... They wont be shutting down Nov. 15th for the weather ..Many parts of the country are effected by DOT requirements for ambient temperature and laying of asphalt.

If you give a contractor 3 years to do the job in the bid specs that is how long it will take. It will take as long to do that stretch of Edgewater as the North Texas Toll Authority took to build 10 miles of 8-lane divided tollway.

Though I am not at all familiar with the project you named, I agree I have seen project's , much larger and surely more involved , that sure seemed, to move along more quickly.. Though (IIRC) $11,000,000,00 at least "seems" to be a lot of money for such a small road project will few if any time constraints. Crews working 10 12 14 hours a day 6 and 7 days a week shortens the time and drives up the cost.. they did work 6 days a week on the round-about.. I am glad its done.. or almost anyway...
