My husband requested that I ask all you fine folk, where can we go for "down and dirty" BBQ??? Nothing pretty, just good BBQ????

I await all your great ideas, and thanks in advance....

Clyde Cooper's Barbecue. Davie Street, Raleigh.

Stephenson's Barbecue. Benson Road, North of McGee's Crossroads.

Parker's Barbecue, Wilson

Bill's Barbecue, Wilson

There's a little place off HWY 55 between Fuquay Varina and Angier that serves good 'cue. I can never remember their name.

Been to all of them, and guarantee them all...

Now I have to go to bed, and my mouth is watering...

For the best BBQ, take a day trip to Lexington, NC.

My favorite is Lexington Barbecue located off US Highway 29-70.
The State is upgrading the highway and bridge in front of the restaurant, but you should be abe to exit off the highway with minimal problem.

Lexington Barbecue, 10 Us Highway 29 70 S, Lexington, NC on Yahoo! Local

My favorite is the coarse chopped plate or tray. It has large chunks of meat and very little fat.

Also, Lexington hosts the Barbecue Festival every Fall.

The Barbecue Festival

This makes topic makes me homesick.

We love Bullock's in Durham - they have a really good Brunswick stew as well. And they have a carryout window where you can order as much as you want, stick it in your freezer at home, and enjoy it whenever you want.

Has anyone tried The Q Shack in Durham on University Road? I haven't yet but keep meaning to since it was featured in the Decidedly Durham video in such a funny way

I haven't been to the Q Shack in Durham but I have been to the one in Raleigh at North Hills Mall. I can't attest for the pork cue as I ate the chicken cue at it was yummy. Those hush puppies.......ahhh........so great.
