I would never pay more than $20/month for a 'bare-bones' gym, so I think you're heading in the right direction with O2.

I belong to Fitness 19 and pay $16/month. They're not open 24/7 and they don't have the fancy stuff, but they have lots of cardio and weights and it's clean and close and the price is fine.

I'm headed over to O2 tomorrow to sign up. They sweetened the pot the last time I spoke with them. They are running a "special" and will knock the $44/month membership down to $39/month. They will waive the $49 enrollment fee and give me the first month free. I was already planning to join, but this makes it even better!

I've been a member of O2 for over 5 years. I have nothing but good things to say about it. I love the classes, the childcare is awesome (the kids are given the choice to stay home with me or dad or go to the gym & they pick the gym), and I've never had a problem with equipment I've wanted being full. Previous gyms I've been to had sign up sheets for certain equipment during busy times, never here.

The members at O2 are also part of what makes it so great. It isn't a meathead gym - everyone is very friendly.

Depending on the time of day, I either go to the Creedmoor location or the Falls/540. One is near work, the other near home and it is nice to have the choice of locations for that reason.

Besides maybe you enjoy running outside in 101 degree heat, but I don't. Thanks for your "advice".
I have to agree about treadmills, maybe 90% of my running seems to be on one these days. I used to be an avid outdoor runner, but maybe I'm just getting soft.

The contracts have also worked well for me, heck paying Peak Fitness $220 for a two year deal has turned into almost two years at Gold's . I'm sure they never offer that rate ...
