I'm looking for suggestions about places to play Christmas carols on my trombone this holiday season. I'm looking for places like coffee shops or other local area businesses that may be having some sort of "Holiday Open House" or some other Christmas themed event that is in need of some Christmas music!

So far I have a real "gig" lined up at Electric Beanz Coffee Bar in Raleigh on November 27th and December 18th. I will also be playing with the Bulltown Strutters in a "mini" Christmas Celebration Parade in Durham on December 4th.

As usual, I can also be found playing on my own "busking" in the City-Plaza in downtown Raleigh near the ice skating rink on random evenings in November and December. Your ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!

Good idea. I'm doing one in Durham on the 4th with The Bulltown Strutters. I looked into the Raleigh Parade, but you need to pay (be a sponsor) to be in that paraded (unless it is a high school group). Might look into some of the other towns, Cary, Wake Forest, ect.... and see what kind of Holiday parades they have planned. Maybe I can jump in with a group at one of those.

Thanks for the idea!

If you are a non-profit/individual, it's only $5.00 to be in the Cary one. http://www.caryjaycees.org/specialchristmas_parade.htm
They might have something for the tree lighting too.

Two more "gigs" set up. I'm volunteering as a "bell ringer" at a Salvation Army red kettle in front of the Harris Teeter at Falls Pointe two nights in December. They have agreed to let me play my trombone instead of ringing the bell. If you are in N. Raleigh and see me - stop by and say hello!

NRG that's some elbow bending trombone playing there man! I would suggest Mebane the new outlets at Mebane that is. They had a guy playing the guitar there this weekend that could of used a trombone or maybe a brass ensemble behind him or maybe in front of him?!

Now if you wanted to know where to play a Tuba you would be as they say in the music business, one button less than a trumpet! Not that there's anything wrong with that!

Happy Wednesday!

Thanks for the feedback and ideas everyone. My Holdiay schedule is taking shape and quickly filling up. Here is what I have planned. If you see me playing at any of these locations stop by and say hello!

Holiday Open House at Electric Beanz Coffee Bar (link) - Saturday November 27th 1-3pm
Salvation Army Red Kettle - Falls Point Shopping Center N. Raleigh - December 2nd 4-6pm
Oakwood Historic Home Tour - December 12th (Tentative)
Salvation Army Red Kettle - Falls Point Shopping Center N. Raleigh - December 7th 6-8pm
Private Function in Cary - December 16th 7-10pm
Electric Beanz Coffee Bar- Saturday December 18th - exact time tbd
Streets at Soutpoint Mall Holiday Program (Tentative)

I may add a Red Kettle date in Cary too, but I'm not sure about the exact location yet, and of course, I can be found busking down by the ice skating rink in Raleigh's City-Palza on pleasant evenings in late November and December.
