This is from Sunday, August 5 WRAL website. This is only one day's worth (that we know of)! This area is out of control with guns and shootings.

La di da....

But no, we don't need gun control!

While any shooting is too many, there are only three incidents listed here. Unless the area is averaging three shootings every day, I'm not sure the situation is as dire as you make it sound. I don't know -- maybe someone can provide annual crime stats.

And a reminder -- if you'd like to discuss gun control, please take it to P&OC, as it's not a local issue.

Thanks.

The Triangle, not RTP. I can't remember a homicide that actually took place inside the Research Triangle Park proper, although I suppose there has been at least one since the late 1950s.

I'm not sure I'd consider 3 shootings in all or the triangle over a weekend as "out of control". I think that's pretty good, actually!!!

When good things happen it is RTP when bad things like shootings or rape happen then it is Durham. There was a murder last summer that the shooting happened in RTP, but it wasn't random.

Have you compared Raleigh area crime stats to other places that have gun control such as London?

There WAS a multiple murder in RTP in 2011. A man shot and killed 3 women in a car, then shot himself. Here's a link:

The Triangle is far from being out of control with gun violence. Look at where two of the three shootings occurred. One was in a housing project in Durham and the other was at a club in a not so nice area of Raleigh. I lived in Raleigh for over 40 years and I can't recall one instance where I was concerned for my safety.

3 shootings, across well over a million in population, with arrests made already in one case.

Highlighting duplicate stories on the same shootings may serve to fuel tension, but doesn't really accurately portray the situation.
