If your calendar option is very very crowded and chosen by tons of parents, you may not get in. If the school does NOT have enough open slots for everyone who requests it, they will grant seats according to the following selection criteria (looks like having a child in pre-k does help!)

Thank you so much for your answer. I think the school is not crowded.
Now i just have to wait until the 21st, but now i have more peace .

Anybody else having trouble with sibling priority not showing up? We should have sibling priority to get on the same schedule (T vs. YR). Even when I add her brother, my daughter doesn't show up as getting sibling priority. Thoughts?

For those who have logged in and made transfer selections, can you tell me the process? I only see a drop down menu for up to three selections. Once I made my selection it showed me a number below that indicated how many other people have made this same request. Is that it? There is nothing to write, no case to make for your desire to transfer? Just click submit? Seems too simple.......

It's just that . And at the end they give you the opportunity to print it for your records. And now I saw that they are going to show the result on the 28th.

I have a question for those of you with a better understanding of this process. Let's say that you live in an area with a "full" base school so your child attends another school. Would having that address make any difference when an opening comes up or would it strictly go down the list from the pool of people "wait listed" for that school? This question comes up because I saw a place in Cary that looks like a good fit for us, but the base school is "full." Would there be any point in trying to get into that subdivision if other families, farther away, could "bump" up the list just by their application date?

Is the school capped? Capped and full mean different things. If the school is just "full" but not capped I believe you can attend your assigned base school. If it is capped, I am not sure how priority is handled if a seat becomes available.

I'm not sure exactly. I am also trying to comprehend the process for applying to Magnet schools and how the sibling priority rule applies. They are at a "10" rated school now and both love it (they have no basis for comparison, in fairness). I will be moving and wanted to figure this out before choosing another home though. I had a contractor come here last year and he said none of this three kids were ever able to go to the same school because of the assignment issues. It's quite a lot to think about.

The period for magnet application is closed. The calendar option and transfer request period ended last night. There is the hardship request period coming up that you may be able to take advantage of, and that is probably done on a case by case basis.

Or maybe I am not undestanding your question properly.

I am not well enough to manage research, applications and transfers this year so I haven't been paying attention to deadlines. However, I'd like a better understanding of the whole process before I actually have to do it and find myself more confused when visiting the WCPSS website. ;-)
