I live in East Clayton and grew up with alot of family in 27610. I have worked in 27610 for 20 year but I wouldn't live here.

I would love to know what neigborhood the OP drove through.

Just went on google to look at the boundaries of 27610 and it huge! I'm just having a hard time believing that ALL of 27610 is some sort of leper colony. There is an intriguing lack of specifics about exactly where in 27610 people would not live in. If a home was available in Longview Gardens Historic District would none of you take a look?

Of course, there are exceptions in 27610. But, as you said, the zip code is very large and there's going to be some heavy variability over that way.

The fact that it is so large should probably tell people that there's a good deal of commercial presence, land that is not or cannot be developed, and larger lot sizes due to more older homes.

Nothing wrong with older homes, so please don't misread me.

If 27610 was really popular, then it would've split into even more zip codes by now. That's kind of where the ideas come from re: questioning appreciation throughout the zip code.

It's not quite the same as, say, 27614 in terms of desirability from a RE perspective.

Doesn't mean there aren't some great pockets of homes in 27610.

I personally would not but that is just me. My grandparents lived in Worthdale so I grew up in the area.

There were quite a few listings in this area that we were looking at. One of the properties was in the Riverbrooke neighborhood. There were also new houses by Maybrook Crossing

this is what I was trying to get at in my other thread... I need to do better with my CD search tactics. Really good thread.... and 27610 is really just about the only area in Raleigh with as much available at that price point... Just seems a tad risky if your perspective is primarily for resale investment ... I think you'd have to think long game with this as some other posters said ... Really good replies y'all...
