Tomorrow could get more crowded than usual since it's an early release day for Wake County schools.

I will never ever try to park at the fairgrounds again. I've used the park and ride option for years now. For $5 roundtrip, you avoid the stress of trying to find parking and driving in the traffic snarl.

I went Saturday and will try to go back again this Saturday. The Imperial Chinese Acrobats and International All-Star Circus are both free fun things to watch. But like the other events, you need to get there at least 30 minutes early to get a good seat.

Chicken Waffle Sliders are on point!

The Thanksgiving Eggroll was sold out by the time we got there but I've heard mixed reviews from people at work.

Really wanted to finish off with the Minnesota Pie Place but was too full by the time we made it there.

Some interesting attendance numbers for anyone planning the best day to attend the fair in the future: 2017 N.C. State Fair - Attendance

I always park on Beryl Road between Blue Ridge and Powell and never have trouble finding parking.

You wait all your life to get in the State Fair for free and we won't get there this year. No roasted corn! Shucks

The Minnesota Pie are the best thing I had in a long while. Do yourself a favor and get 6 for $25. They come in a box so you can take home. Had the apple and pumpkin, both are excellent. If you get them individually they come with cinnamon or vanilla ice cream. I went with the cinnamon, which was excellent too.

First time riding the Fair Flyer this year and holy smokes dude, that thing is absolutely terrifying for riding with a small child. All it has is a lap bar that doesn't even sit on your lap and that any kid could easily slip under and plummet to a grisly death. Didn't realize until we were on the thing and immediately 60 feet in the air. Never held onto my daughter quite so tightly. Not even joking -- I feel like that thing really ought to be made safer.

Why pay? The P&R I used was free and had tons of capacity. Corner of Edwards Mill & Reddy Creek.

I was not impressed with the Key Lime Pie bites. The dough was quite tasty, but there was little Key Lime taste. I probably was expecting too much from the hype. It is near the water wall outside of Dorton Arena.

This is a good map to help find the new food.
