I don't mind driving in general, but I would switch to public transit for my daily commute Garner<->RTP if it were practical time-wise. Last time I checked the route schedules, my 35-50 minute commute by car would be at least 1:45 by bus/walk. The transfer time is the killer because I have to go downtown first, then switch to a separate bus to get to RTP. Maybe I should check again.

I'll choose driving over flying for a trip that is no more than 12 hours or so. I hate dealing with the hassle of flying even worse than I hate driving. The expensive tickets, fees for everything, risk of overbooking, long lines for check-in and security, undressing for security (shoes and belt have to be removed in most cases for me), cramped seats in the plane, rude/inconsiderate people on the plane, etc have made air travel undesirable for me. In addition, if I fly, I don't have a car once I get to my destination, and in most cases would have to rent one - yet another expense.

If you wait 10 years maybe we'll have a rail option from Garner to RTP (emphasis on maybe)

Good luck.

Rail was already cancelled twice.

Many of us who can no longer use the speedway interstates are cut off from activities but nobody cares/

I like driving, but not as much as required here. This city and area is horrible from an infrastructure standpoint...

I like driving if I don't have anywhere to be. I don't like it if I do.
