I was just wondering what locations in the Triangle area are considered prime Valentines Day destinations? My wife and I are still feeling the financial pinch of owning our first home, so we will most likely forgo eating out that particular evening (I am a real cheapskate and hate how prices get jacked up that day ), but I am still curious about what is considered to be a hot ticket. Anybody here have a favorite place they make reservations at this time each year? Only 15 days to go!!

Not sure where we are going to head out to....last year we just went to Los Tres Magueyes (Great Mexican, great margarittas - not high on the romance scale though.)
Maybe use it as an excuse to get dressed up and hit the new "Global" (Global something or other).....or just go out for drinks.
Bistro 607 on Glenwood South in Raleigh is one of my all-time faves for "romantic" dining....intimate atmosphere (a restored Victorian cottage) with tasty French-inspired food. Can't go wrong there.
AnotherThyme in Durham's Brightleaf area is a great one as well.
Not romantic, necessarily, but we enjoy Margaux's near Creedmoor and Strickland. Mo's Diner downtown was really good when we went there several years ago. Second Empire--awesome but $$$$$. Magnolia Grill in Durham is also very good.
Dos Taquitos is wonderful for Mexican. Its very dark and cozy in there, so it would be kind of romantic for Vday. They just opened a new location downtown but I've not been there yet. The one we go to is on Creedmoor and its always packed, its very popular.

AnotherThyme is quite good. A new French restaurant in downtown Durham, Rue Cler (from the folks behind Pops) is also very, very good and would be a good choice. Either one you'd need a reservation pretty soon to have a shot at!

True...as would Bistro 607. In fact, I planned to call tomorrow. Hope I'm not too late.
I vote for the melting pot, in Raleigh. It is all fondue, and you can just sit and talk and eat decadant fondue. That sounds wonderful to me, but alas,
getting a rental movie, and curling up in front of a fire with fast food sounds good to me at this point.
We had a really nice dinner the other night at: Ever Which Way in Cary
Nice surroundings & excellent food. You would never know from the outside--it is in one of those strip malls, but, inside it has a huge fire place & it is very relaxing feeling.
But, I have to say, the Melting Pot idea sounds good.......hummm.......we might have to try that. I heard it's really good--wanted to go in my home state, but, never did---glad they have one here.

I've been meaning to go to The Melting Pot for ages now....it just never works out.
For a chain, Bahama Breeze has a nice feel...it's right on Wake Forest Road up from The Melting Pot.
