Hello,

Since so many people from the North East are moving into NC, do they bring their attitude (from which many of them are trying to escape) with them? Without meaning to stereotype, I wonder especially about the (un)friendliness, elitist, and social attitude. Can people from the North East drive to work without beeping their horn at least once?

I do not mean to offend anyone but I am a little bit concerned about this. After all, many people from the NE are trying to escape just this behavior -- but how easy is it to let go habits and attitudes that surrounded one for a long time?

Chris

I find that some do and some don't. It's kind of a mixed bag.

Default People are the same everywhere!

In reality most New Yorkers drive pretty well. I'm currently in Las Vegas and we have tons of traffic here due to Vegas being such a popular place for people to visit.

But out here the locals mostly complain about the lousey California people and people from the midwest, they say those Cali people are rude and nasty, stuff like that.

I just ignore it though, being in the casino industry i deal with people from all over the world, seems the majority of the people from the North East are the most down to earth, while i get alot of attitudes from others , some from the south, alot from Cali, some from the midwest, name it and like i said people are the same wherever you go.

As any city grows expect more beeping horns, but worry about the Illegals, they are the ones that shouldnt be driving in the first place.

Stay safe, good luck

Some do, some don't.

But I have had a couple of bad exp's in the past with northerns. Some can be really nasty to you for no reason....like parking half your car on the road, and the other half on the grass.

This has happend to me twice. Both times they came out cursing me out. Yelling and saying how stupid I am for parking in their yard. (Even though I was on the state right of way)

Both times this happend during my past job. But at the same time I have met some really nice northerners. My entire family is from NJ....and they are all ill.....lol

Just don't park on their grass! They worked hard on it.

Where did you get these stereotypes? How do you know the other people beeping their horns are from the Northeast too? I am assuming some may have license plates from up ther but certainly not all.

I think you have a bad misconception. I am from the Northeast and the people I know from there are genuine, warm and friendly. I still maintain contact with them as they are simply good people. The people from my old job are FAR more friendly than where I work right now in Raleigh. I will take that attitude any day.

I would like to think I didn't have a NE attitude but maybe I did.. who knows but I do think the way of life in NC sort of changes the quirkiest of NE people. You just can't help to want to be nice when you get to NC.

I can't help but want to be nice regardless of where I live. I was raised that way. Again though, the stereotype is WAY off. I guess if you go looking for an attitude you will find one.

Default We all get along!

Having been born and breed here in the area. I really think the NE people enjoy the kindness and the southern hospitality. We all fit in well they learn to wave and to speak to their and neighbors and it is a pleasant experience for everyone.

I will not tell you that there isn't an occurence of the honking horn!

I don't see it that much. A cranky southern redneck is just as bad as a cranky northeasterner.

I do every now and then hear that same old "where I'm from we do it this way...". All I can say to that is "Well, Bless your heart!". LOL
