I am meeting some friends at Mez - Contemporary Mexican Restaurant in Durham later this week. I had not heard of this place before today. It looks pretty cool from the website. Anybody know what it is like? Is the food good?

Eh - decent atmosphere, overpriced (irrelevant if its on the company) - kind of strange food, definitely not red sauce and cheese mexican...overall I'd give it a split decision - I'd eat there for free, would pass if a paying my own way. I work literally 500 feet from there and have eaten there 3 times, all paid for, and not in the last 6 months.

Thanks for the heads-up. This is a going away part for a friend. Maybe I'll stick to the bar and drink my dinner.

In my opinion, the blood orange margaraita (or is it a martini), though it sounds intriguing, isn't all that great.

It IS a cool, open vibe, but I was just not blown away...518 west is light years beyond Mez quality.

We ate there once. I thought it was tasty but expensive.

I agree. Stick to the 5th food group . I ate there once and for the prices, you are better off going to El Dorado ahead of time then going to Mez for drinks (which aren't too cheap either).
