What's the best value in Phone, internet and Cable

I used MagicJack when it first came out and it works well! You do need to have a high speed Internet connection and keep the MJ on a computer that is always 'on,' and then plug your phone or phone system into that. Yes, it works. You should always have a cell phone (or one of those prepaid cell phones) as backup in case of power failure (but that's true of any VoIP system).

To answer your question Beckycat, I LOVE the Magic Jack so much that I investigated buying stock in the parent company YMax Communications. I don’t believe they’re publicly traded so that wasn’t an option though.

I was in Comp USA (formerly Tiger Direct) the candy store for tech geeks like me this last weekend and they were selling the Magic Jack there. My wife mentioned that they also sell it at Wal-mart and Radio Shack; so it really has become as ubiquitous as it is affordable.

Anyone who has a broadband connection and doesn’t mind leaving their computer on should give it a try. It’s just so reasonably priced that even if you’re not completely satisfied you won’t be out a ton of cash.
