Corgis, your story got me boiling Rather than having a little sympathy and understanding for wheelchair-bound person, particularly an elderly person who probably HAD to rather than wanted to sell, some narrow-minded prospective buyers and their equally narrow-minded agents actually refused or discouraged showings?! The elderly woman wasn't the handicapped one in this situation, IMO.......

Kudos (and points) to you!

We went to look at a house yesterday and the owner and his two cute doggies were there, didn't bother us a bit. He put them on their leashes and took them outside and hung out while we looked around. My kids came along and they won't stop talking about the house now. I think they liked playing with his doggies... LOL
We are going back to see his house tonight for a second showing.

I love corgis. I've got a corgi mix, best dog I ever had. I love old ladies, too.

Selling a house in this market is crazy and buyers seem to be quite picky and know the ball is in their court.

We went through a lot of showings and finally took our house of the market. But through those 6 months, I was in my last trimester of pregnancy-struggling to clean the house in 30 minutes and get out the door. Then there would be no comments left about our house.

Then we had the baby, actually had a showing the day after we got home from the hospital. (It was our choice, but we left the house). We did this multiple times during my entire maternity leave, often trying to hold the baby and clean up. Sometimes not even showing up.

It was torture and now that I am back to work, I said enough! The house never sold and we never got any negative feedback. Whether it was overpriced, other houses were better, poor listing agent...who knows. But I am so happy that we aren't getting my kids out the door on a Saturday morning only to have the buyers not show or cancel or comment on the house!!

Thumbs up Your post brought 'tears' to my eyes Corgis!

It seems from reading quite a few of the posts on this thread and the RE forum, that Buyers and Realtors want to control ALL us Sellers and it just ain't gonna happen folks !! Sorry, but nosirree . I agree it's a tough market and I think that myself and quite a few posters on CDF and also Sellers that I know personally, are bending over backwards to be accomodating to any potential Buyers .

And for those of you that don't want to see a Seller 'ever' (and I don't mean the ones that follow you around while you are looking at their home, which I agree is annoying), may I kindly suggest that you go to vacant and new homes only . It certainly won't hurt my feelings, as you wouldn't be the kind of people I would want to buy my marvelous home anyways ! If your posts on CDF are any indication of your character, then please buy my competitor and let them deal with your nonsense !!

And for those of you with an ugly attitude in general, about Sellers, and how you wish to stick it to us, just remember that "what goes around, comes back around eventually" .

Happy Selling ALL and Great thread Ann !!!

Her bright, intelligent eyes followed us as we moved from room to room, there was nothing else she could do but she didn't offer any information about the house until we specifically asked her questions.

The point of this little story is that people who don't give a home a chance because the owners/dogs/children/parents, whatever are still in the house are doing a great diservice both to themselves and the sellers.

Not everybody can leave so you can go through their house and make comments about it. Not everyone is mobile.

I remember this gracious lady and someday when I sell my house (in about 2 years) I shall hope to emulate her manners and decorum and hope that I don't have potential buyers that want to control me by demanding I get out of my own home.

Default It only takes one

That's easy for you to say. Dogmom & the others who would love an offer from any good legit buyer can't really afford to be real picky on who comes through their home.

You never know when the next buyer is the right buyer.

You are so right you never now. Hubby and I didn't and as the moving truck left our realtor called with an offer and we all made it work including both realtors. It only takes one person to fall in love with your place thats all.

You may feel differently about this, if you were still trying to sell your home after a year.

Hey folks, I am still here...waiting...waiting...waiting..I am tired of jumping through hoops but we need to sell. So I guess we will keep jumping, just maybe not so high.

The story about the little lady with the corgi made me tear up. Not everyone can leave, she was probably very uncomfortable having to stay. And maybe she was not so mobile as to even being able to go out for coffee or whatever if someone was to take her. What about her dog? Cant take a dog for coffee...Maybe she was a widow selling her family home, and that dog was all she had. Geez, now I am going to cry.

Her house is the kind of house I would want, where there were happy memories and well loved.

I still think I am going to lose my mind. Later...

Dogmon, keep in mind the universal feel good drug that cures all problems...

Chocolate

Anytime I have a client that is getting the blues, I take them a bag of Hersey kisses. Works every time.
