Oh, and Jewel City Joe.....Huntington, WV is "The Jewel City" where I was born, between the Iron City of Pittsburgh, PA and the Queen City of Cincinnati, Ohio. Big River Port Huntington and lots of River Boat traffic & workers.
Welcome! Unfortunately, no, Laura is not still posting. Her last post was in December 2016.

Default Thanks for the Welcome

Hello Dawn,

I was hoping to meet some River Boat Cooks around here if any were posting. I do a lot of cooking myself, smoking meat, making sausage and stuffing it in casings, smoking cheese, and cooking over a fire and using Dutch Ovens.

Sure would love to see this thread continue.

JCJ

I wanted to revive this wonderful thread. Laura707 had some health issues and stopped working on the boats. I hope she’s still out there somewhere. Also, many posters who we don’t hear from anymore.

This thread predates me on C-D, but I'm glad you revived it. Some great recipes on here and I enjoyed reading through it.

OMG, I immediately recognized this thread, I remember the tow boat cook, she had some interesting recipes and tales. I'd almost completely forgotten this one!

Thanks for reviving - I'll have to peruse some of the recipes for inspiration!
