I don't have a car, but even when I did, I often lied and said I didn't, or I lied about the cars age and condition. I also lied about my employment and salary, typically passing myself off as a common laborer or clerical worker.
It's the fastest, easiest way to get rid of the superficial high-maintenance women.
A guy I know at VA hospital would probably be considered a "hunk" by most women doesn't have a car. The reason he doesn't is because he has periodic seizures, although he hasn't had one in long time. Otherwise he is a successful small businessman that does contracting and consulting.
It would all depend on the reason why. Was it towed after his last DWI and he couldn't afford to get it out of the impound lot? No.
Is he fully supporting himself and made a rational decision that the money he would use to buy and maintain a car would be better spent on paying off his student loans? Yes.
For most of us, other than the big cities mention, you absolutely have a car, and if you don't it's a sign that your a broke bloke! Yeah, there are some exceptions, but only a few.
Where I live there is no public transportation, so it would be impossible to live here without a car. You cannot ride a bike to everything unless you leave REALLY EARLY. So, I need a guy with a car. It is not that the car is what I am after; it is just that in this area if someone doesn't have a car, they are stuck. A motorcycle would work, but that was not a choice.
Yes, you could be stuck but if you have a car then nobody gets stuck because you could pick him up and stuff .
Of course I would. But then, I don't think that not having a car is so weird or out of place in (Southern) Europe, particularly if you're a city dweller.
