And maybe rules out some undocumented folks, too.

Well, I probably wouldn't put that in a dating profile, but if a guy is going to be with me long term, he WILL have a passport or I'll be heading off to Tahiti without him

I really doubt that, many traveler types think they are enlightened and anyone who doesn't travel internationally are idiots and not worth talking to. Check out world/travel sections on here, majority of the regulars aren't like that, but you do get a lot of the elitist type on there.

I see where she's coming from-I find I have something in common with girls who have been outside the country. Not just from having stories to swap, but I get the sense that they are the adventurous type more often than not. And at the very least it's an easy convo to have at the start.

But if I saw it written like that in the first sentence of her profile I'd be weirded out.

Well, I don't know about "enlightened," but people who can and like to travel generally don't have much in common with people who have no desire to ever leave their state or even town and/or are incapable of it.

I'll give you that much, but there are different circumstances for everyone. You never know why they might not have a passport at the time. I love to travel too, and that's a big part of my free time.. but there's a huge difference between some of those enlightened type people who flat out look down on other people, and those who really just enjoy it. Someone who says have a passport or don't bother comes off as someone who is probably arrogant.

She probably meant it to be original and funny, but we can't know for sure. In any event, I'm pretty certain she doesn't want a copy of the passport before agreeing to see somebody.

Maybe I'm just not at my best tonight, but I really don't see what's so funny about that statement.

That's true, you are talking two very, very different personality types.

No, it's not funny per se... It's just light-hearted and a little different.
