If you're a male who walks a little dog, and in particular I'm talking about the "cutsie" types -- not the small hunting breeds such as dachshunds -- we all know the dog is intended to act as a gateway to meet females. It's an old trick, everybody is aware of it at this point, and it really makes you come off as seeming desperate. And BTW, when you let it off its leash, and it goes nipping at the ankles of a man wearing new shoes, you run the risk of receiving a butt-kicking of a lifetime.

Why does it have to be a trick?

I like some of those little dogs. If a guy cannot get women without a dog than he has no chance with a little lap dog.

Maybe you think a man needs a BIG DOG to be considered a man's dog.

Not really, they only go after smaller guy's ankles usually.

Still don't get that one though, I understand certain apartments have rules and such about this, but why bother?

The shaky, nippy, bark at anything dogs just come across as angry, inbred gerbils to me personally.

some of the most manly men I have met have had their hearts melted by a small dog. it isn't about getting a chick, that might be a bonus. if any dog goes and bites someone heals then they are poorly trained.

I like 'em, too, provided there's duct tape on their mouths!

My boyfriend has a maltipoo. I guess he can go into the "cute dog" category. He originally got him because he's on the road a lot and a dog that size makes a good companion on his trips.

If people look at him as "desperate" when he goes to the doggie park, I'm sure he doesn't mind too much.

Well, I don't really care to have pets around. They can't talk, so I can't tell when they are too cold, hate what I feed them etc. And you have to have two. They have to have a friend, right? Especially when you aren't home. Terrible to leave something that lives 7 years for every one, alone in the house by itself.

But geezus, chihuahuas and pomeranians are two micro sized breeds that have lots of attitude, LOL!

I agree, if a guy gets a dog just as a girl getting trick, thumbs down. But heck, if the guy likes some pesky little pipsqueak dog, so what? LOL!

I dont see many guys with cutesy dogs around here much. The ones I have seen, they had them cause the woman owned it or the mother. If I see a man with a cute dog by himself it doesnt help him in any way with me. I automatically assume that he's walking his girlfriends dog or that he is somewhat gay.
