Default What's it like to be hurt , but try again and be hurt again?

Looking for stories , please identify male or female. What I mean is say you are really hurt in a relationship and really hesitant to try again. But you let someone new in and they hurt you , too. Do you swear you will not be vulnerable again? Do you kick yourself for not learning your lesson with the first person? Do tell.

I've lost count how many times I've put myself back out there and got hurt yet again. I've decided that I just have bad taste in men so I fired myself from dating.

I'm a man. My worst stories come from unreciprocated love. Getting to know a friend and falling for her over an extended period and she does not feel the same. Three times it has happened and been really bad and the hurt has been far worse and longer than any hurt from any relationship. And I've been cheated on, and dumped in my relationships before. People here have called me a p@ssy, but getting rejected is worse. Way worse.

In fact, my last breakup from my last relationship was clean as a whistle, no pain, no hard feelings, we both still talk and think of each other as awesome people. I maybe felt sad for a day or two. So, it doesn't have to be boom or bust. And I don't see why they can't be like that for me or any well adjusted person going forward. If we choose more wisely.

Hmm. Men getting rejected and women complaining about men cheating on them and treating them like crap. Maybe we're on to something?

Nah...

It feels like poop. And I learned after the pain you do feel good again.

I've been cheated on twice by 2 different women. It kind of feels like a machete stabbing you in the back. Trying to put trust back into women is pretty difficult I've come to realize.

In the past I've had some relationships. In the recent 2 years I've had none.

Meh. That's not too bad. I'm in the same boat.

Men generally get hurt far less often from relationships because most are either the highly desirable users or have a great deal of difficulty getting to first base.

Since most women aim for the highly desirable users and generally have what it takes to get his attention, they are far more likely to be hurt IN relationships. Men are generally hurt by being denied any shot at a reasonable relationship.

Women expect sympathy for their plight because they have invested in the relationship - usually with their virtue, but sometimes with their cash. In contrast, women know that the guys who are being hurt are the 70 to 80 % of men for whom they have no interest. They love to taunt them with advice that they get "confidence", "six pack abs" or win the lottery.
