After a couple of weeks thinking about that, I decided to give this online dating another chance. First impression I didnt expect much out of it but it was really disappointing the first couple guys who wrote me. How long should I keep my profile before giving up on this?? Any tips or comments are welcome here.
PLEASE don't let online dating ruin your impression of men like it did for me... Nearly every message I received made me less and less sure I'd ever find anyone. Men will be rude, lewd and crude, send you disgusting messages and lawd help you if you can receive photos. I could probably publish a years worth of Playgirl with some of the stuff I received.
You do have to wade through it, but I've had quite a few friends who have had excellent luck with it
They make it seem like you log on, and there's your perfect match, just waiting.
LOL.
Unfortunately, like all internet pursuits, it attracts more freaks and wierdos than say, playing tennis...but this is changing, as it's becoming more acceptable in our busy lives.
A couple of weeks is a split second in internet dating time....it's actually quite hard work and you have to be patient. Some hardy souls are at it for YEARS. Just view it as another way to meet new people and open up your social life, NOT necessarily a source of your dream match.

If you are not prepared to give it a minimum of 3 months, then don't even bother. I don't know why people expect that they can go online and find their dream date within a few days, yet they spend months on end, even years, without finding them elsewhere.
I had to give it 7 months. My boyfriend....I am the first one he winked at. I waded through soooooo many men. Thousands of pages, omg. I am happy I did it, though!

I saw some of the same people there that I had gone out on dates with back in 08....
I'm way too proud to resort to online dating (no offense to those that do). I'm old fashioned in this area. Would be fun to browse some profiles though, just to see what's out there and available...
I wouldn't take it down at all. If you get tired of it then just stop visiting. Depending on the website, you'll still get email alerts when someone sends you a message. You might get a message from someone good after you have lost hope of success on the site. Good luck
