I'm pretty sure Larry Ellison of Oracle personifies the opposite of nearly every point you list below, yet somehow he accumulated a net worth of nearly $40B.

You are missing the point.

Your circumstances do not dictate your character (unless maybe you live in the slums of India and have to steal food or literally starve to death).

Other than that, successful people rise above the challenges they are faced with instead of using them as an excuse to stay stuck.

There are definitely a lot of "life isn't fair" examples around. But Madoff went to prison. Sometimes it does catch up with those types.

People's character molds itself to the way most likely to help them overcome their problems. I know this doesn't fit the rose-tinted world but still...

Some of it is right .. Some not .. I've seen unsuccessful people do successful things on that list , they just aren't successful
