Are the things listed in bold what makes a person successful, or are they things that describe a successful person? I know people who have those things listed in bold but are deemed as unsuccessful by society's standards in that they do not have a traditional family life, have unremarkable careers, and have little in the way of financial resources.
Success in life, love and relationships is not necessarily going to look like financial or career success
Many financially successful people are miserable losers in all other departments.
Got this on my Facebook page this morning and think it could be very valuable info for some here in light of some of the recent threads and posts I've noticed
Successful people Unsuccessful people:
Have a sense of gratitude Have a sense of entitlement
Forgive others Hold grudges (seek revenge)
Accept all responsibility Blame others for their failures (especially the opposite gender) for their failures
Give other people credit Take all the credit of their victories for their victories
Compliment Criticize
Talk about ideas Talk about people
Want others to succeed secretly want others to fail and celebrate when they do
Share information Hoard information and data and data
Set goals and develop Never set goals life plans
Embrace change Fear change
Exude joy Exude anger
Continuously learn Think they know it all
Have empathy for the pain of others Laugh when others are hurting
Operate from a Operate from a transactional perspective
transformational perspective
Can't these qualities fluctuate and fall in between? I mean, people do get into their moods and don't always act like Ned Flanders.
its a load of rubbish...that is all i think
and how are we measuring success? because there are many different ways to do so.
all the successful people i have ever know have been the most gracious ever changing, able to roll with whatever comes there way type of people. they where able to become successful for a reason and that wasn't from walking on others at every chance they had
it comes down to the individual, not the "title" they have in life

The recent threads on this forum make me think humans are becoming a hybrid species with the jack ass.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
In all seriousness though, I posted this for some of those posters who don't understand, or have never been taught, what it can take to be a successful person.
Of course, there are different kinds of success, as I stated previously in the thread, and not everyone gets that, hence the opposition by a few here.
It's just hard to watch some of the otherwise nice people on this forum flounder so much for lack of knowledge.
Many do not realize how they are being their own worst enemies and blocking themselves from having the very things they want in life.
It's just not in me to watch this kind of behavior without at least trying to help.
Hmm...the 'unsuccessful' side describes most of my bosses to a T. The epitome of that list is their boss. It seems he promotes only those who are ugly inside like him. Im being very literal here; I need to leave this toxic place.
That list of 14 or so items are all positive things, no doubt, I think that I've failed on every one of those, at many points in my life.
I am also fully aware of these things and don't beat myself up about them, I just try.
I try to do them.
I don't always get there.
But, we try.
Trying and failing is much better then never attempting.
I know this may sound like sound like something you might read at the end of a chinese meal.
Doesn't make it any less true.
