I often say that the divorce was one of the best things that happened. It was part of a chain of good things and changes.

Was only saying that the things you mentioned doing to those you "hated" on that other thread were done when you were younger, and now that you are older and wiser you seem to be making better choices for success.

I think you have it in you to be 100% successful in life, but it is something you are still growing into so I sent you the list to give you "food for thought"

My old boss was the biggest A-hole around, and he did almost everything on the list on the unsuccessful side. He was so mean to everybody under him that they all went to HR and complained about him. He's been promoted 3 times in the last few years.

My wife has all these and when she was laid off/forced retirement all her direct reports came to her crying...she did all the comforting and didnt shed a tear. I dont think i could have been so classy but this is the same person who always remembered their birthdays and always gave a gift. How can one be successful and still lose their job? I had to stop trying to make sense of it all but when i read this thats who came to mind first.

Another feel good/I've got it right post. Why not simply send it to those people you feel might benefit the most, such as "present company included?"

ETA: I was honest with myself, and I'm blended on these scalar dimensions. It's person and situation specific.

Are the things listed in bold what makes a person successful, or are they things that describe a successful person? I know people who have those things listed in bold but are deemed as unsuccessful by society's standards in that they do not have a traditional family life, have unremarkable careers, and have little in the way of financial resources.
