For this diet, I can't have either of those dishes with or without the syrup unless I completely reformulate them, but I don't really miss pancakes much, only when I'm out with one of my foodie groups for breakfast with I crave pancakes and I'll be darn if I deny myself when that time comes. For now, I will avoid such functions.
See, that's something that I love but only eat once in a while. Like you said, I usually only eat them when we go out to breakfast/brunch or we're on vacation or something. And I've never made them at home, at least not since I was very young and living at (my parents') home. And no strawberries/powdered sugar - it has to be maple syrup!
I was at one of my favorite BBQ places yesterday and they have the calories right on the menu. FULL rack of St. Louis style baby back ribs smoked to perfection - 2,295 calories

Good Lord!!! That's like twice what I would eat in a day!
I love that I can have bar b que, I make a sugar free version and it's lip smacking good.
I like some bar b que... but low carb aside, I find most bar b que too sweet for my liking... I just don't dig 'sweet' food... I'm more of a savory person... never got the sweet thing as food, like pineapple on pizza for example.... ****ing gross as far as I'm concerned... LOL
I'm not sure if you folks knew this but if you use sausage gravy on your chicken fried steak the sausage completely cancels out all fat and carbs. No really!
